About

As though adding a page called “Life Story” wasn’t enough, I also thought I’d include a brief explanation about this blog.

Why am I doing it?

I began not too long ago at the suggestion of many, many professionals in my field. Blogging is the future, and you’re quaint notion of print journalism is the past. Get with it! And so, in an effort to keep up with my peers and acquire the skill set needed in this admittedly absurd career choice of journalism, I began this blog.

How am I going to acquire any skills writing a blog?

Let me get back to you on that…

What is the blog about?

When I started, it was more or less a weekly exercise to keep me writing. The subjects, as you can see in the archives, are normally just nonsensical ramblings of whatever I thought might be remotely interesting (to me anyway). Sure, I acquired some loyal readers (roommates and mother), but it was time for a change.

So now, this blog is about my new life in New York City, whatever that may turn out to be. On the surface, it may seem like some self-indulgent dribble passed off as professional growth and resembling online public journals preteens use to rant about their oppressed lives. Well friends, if you dig a little deeper, you’ll discover that’s exactly what it is.

But something that I really hope to do with this blog (emphasis on hope) is to touch base with my friends and family back home. I’m not always great at keeping in touch, so this will be a way for them to know what I’m up to, if they’re interested. To be perfectly honest, they are my target audience. Though I do dream of being Amy Adams’ character is “Julie and Julia” with my blog landing me a book deal and a movie based on my life where I’m played by none other than Amy Adams.

With this in mind, enjoy the blog. Feedback of any kind, especially blind praise, is always welcome.

It's uncanny, isn't it?

We're practically twins.
